The Glendale Police Auxiliary Unit is very active in the community. Their primary function is to provide security services to area schools and businesses, when uniformed police officers are not required. The unit routinely provides these services for a number of special events, including Bayshore Safety Days, Bayshore Mall holiday patrol, Sprecherfest, Glendale Days, Oktoberfest, Nicolet High School events, Glen Hills Middle School events, the Glendale PD Bike Rodeo, and the Glendale Municipal Court. The Auxiliary Unit also participates in regular ride-a-longs with uniformed officers.
The Auxiliary Unit receives a variety of training from the department, including defense and arrest tactics, handcuffing, the use of pepper spray, crowd control, and department policies and procedures.
The Auxiliary Unit currently has 10 dedicated members. Captain Larry Rittberg and Officer Bill Elbert are the department liaisons.
